Just by looking at the CD cover of “The Outsiders,” the images are electric with swirls of musician looking like Vin Diesel in ‘Pitch Black’ with some mixed in Tent Reznor. FIRESTORM formed back in 1997, supporting some of the best major acts in music, such as ALICE COOPER, JUDAS PRIEST, DIO, DORO, SKID ROW, BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, GAMMA RAY, SONATA ARCTICA , and DEATHSTARS.
They mix a blend of shock rock with good ole metal adding some amazing vocals. The opening song “Down” brings sounds of PRIMUS but once the heavy chords make their appearance and David Stawa vocal chords hit, you have some of the best new rock coming out of Austria.
You can feel the great potential FIRESTORM emits; they have to become something special, especially with Stawa on vocals. The music is attacking with power chords and punishing in the vein of PANTERA yet vocally Stawa could fit in with power metal or heavy metal.
There is nothing, not one iota that I don’t like about this band. The band says this EP is just a teaser until the full-length is ready to go and for one I can’t wait until it’s ready. The highlight track is “My Hate Keeps Me Alive” which is a space-age power-rocker.
