You gotta give credit where credit is due. THE ROCKFORD HEROES came onto the scene in 2010 releasing their debut EP “Light Scares” in 2011 that RockEyez reviewed
giving it 3 Stars but the music had great potential.

In 2012 they released their second EP “The White EP” that gained favorable reviews around the globe. 2013 has just begun and THE ROCKFORD HEROES have just released their first full length CD “The Edge Of A Silver Thorn”. Sitting back and listening to the new release THE ROCKFORD HEROES have matured into one of the best melodic rock/hard rock bands I’ve heard in some time. Vocally, musically, & lyrically these boys have made it to the Promised Land and should be recognized as a true entity.
The disc opens with a masterful tune called “No Reason To Believe” which happens to be my favorite tune. Dan Hultstrand caresses the lyrics like a true veteran. This guy is headed for major stardom. The lyrics and breaks are a musical dream that brings the level of excitement to the masses. Jonas Arvidsson’s keyboard and guitar work are stunning as the perfection of the midsection of drummer Marcus Johansson and bassist Erik Carlsson add true class.
“The Day of Return” brings a bit heavier tone but the QUEEN style harmonies and the slicing guitar work with added keys brings the tune to an ovation. “Forever” brings a silence as a sensational ballad has taken control. . Dan Hultstrand sure has that same aura as Nils Moiln of DYNAZTY and the vocal range is outstanding.
“And Then There Was Temptation” starts off like a ballad then pumps the adrenaline busting vessels with a killer rocker. It’s a bit fast-paced and pushes THE ROCKFORD HEROES to reach out to other style genres.
Touching on all bases “Gold Encircles The Altar” is just another masterful song that astounds me with all the class acts coming out of Sweden. These guys are like a new style DREAM THEATER of melodic metal. This song is amazing!!! Dan Hultstrand is a god amongst men and once people take notice of THE ROCKFORD HEROES there will be no stopping these boys.
“Capricious Arrows” has an aggressive side that hits the hardedge of music. The song is fast, smooth yet still holds the greatness of the band.
“A Split Second Goodbye” is keyboard-laced with classic rock tones bringing a style of FOREIGNER with amazing harmonies and an AOR vibe. Listen to the range of Hultstran and the guitar work by Jonas Arvidsson, you’re looking at gold.
Ending the disc is “The Fools Realm” and I first thought of SKID ROW’s “18 And Life” but the song changes direction to another top quality song that seems to be a staple on “Edge Of A Silver Thorn”. I have to admit after listening over and over again this is my favorite release so far in 2013 so please support these guys and check their Facebook and official sites and just give a listen.
