After two prior success stories TANGO DOWN are back again with their third triumphant CD "Identity Crisis". This time around David Reece of BANGALORE CHOIR is handling the lead vocals. The disc has ten crunching tracks and with the array of talent onboard it's a musical dream.
The disc starts off with "Crying To Me" and right away madman guitarists Scott 'Rif' Miller shows off his chops. Heavy harmonies spice up the enthusiasm as David Reece stands out with his impressive vocal range. David has a touch of Paul Sabu and David Lee Roth to his voice and that just adds to the excitement.
"Alone" slows things down with a calm rocker as it starts off with some mild keyboard sounds. I enjoyed the track as it has a bit of a JOURNEY feel and dives right into a great AOR track. Scott 'Rif' Miller sets fire to the song once again and is really impressive as an axe man. The following track, "Dream Child", sure has that VAN HALEN sound, maybe in the vein of "Panama" or "Jump"; a real good rocking track.
TANGO DOWN is a "full-package" band that has the essentials of the hard rocking eighties with a truly high-powered guitar sound. Each member in their own right is highlighted on "Identity Crisis". Reeces's vocals are amazing and the background vocals and harmonies are top notch. From song to song you have reminiscent memories of a variety of quality bands that were all hit makers.
My favorite track has to be "Enlighten Me" as its just a quality tune that is perfection. Miller's riffs have that great raw Jake E. Lee style that blows me away and just soars with screaming highs. This is another true rocker that needs to be heard by the masses.
Hey was Paul Stanley a guest on "Hearts Catch Fire" during the chorus? Nah, but man does this track kick some major ass. I love this CD as it has so much range and diversity which makes "Identity Crisis" a release that you can listen to over and over again. There is really not a bad track on the entire disc.
"Magic Pudding" ends the disc that has a bluesy style and as I said if you are looking for some diversity with a killer guitarist, great background vocals and harmonies plus an exciting vocalist then TANGO DOWN is the band for you. Pick up "Identity Crisis"!
