“Hollywood Ghosts” is from two of the great legends in music today - Lizzie Grey (formerly of LONDON, where he shared the stage with Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue) and Timothy Jay (ex-London drummer). These guys have been making music together for over 10 years and are back with a new band -- Spiders & Snakes.
Not only do you get some great music, but the CD also includes a DVD of vintage videos, interviews, and band history. If you’re a glam/hard rock fan, you will love the DVD. Let’s check out the new CD to see if the music can measure up to the times of today.
The production is excellent!!! “American Baby” is just a great starter for “Hollywood Ghosts.” It has all the makings of vintage Lizzie -- reminiscent of the glam days of the eighties. Crunching choruses with sing-along vocals, “Angelyne” has twists and turns. It starts off like a melodic Led Zeppelin tune and changes direction to sound more like Zebra. Spiders & Snakes has the sound of Hanoi Rocks at times.
“Freeway” is a great song with vocals of a glam-style Randy Jackson (Zebra). If you've heard Lizzie Grey before, you'll know his his vocal style is slow with simplistic lyrics at times. But back in the day, that is exactly what made a great glam band. “Waiting for Me in L.A.” might be the highlight song on the CD.
The best way to describe Spiders and Snakes is that they are an updated version of Marc Bolan (T- Rex) meets Zebra with a hanoi rocks twist.
