One of the highlights from 2004 in the AOR genre was the self-titled debut by From the Inside . It is the new studio project of producer/songwriter Fabrizio V. Zee Grossi and features singer Danny Vaughn of Tyketto & Waysted fame. Many have compared it to the vintage Tyketto sound, and due to the distinctness of Vaughn's voice, that is a fair statement. But in truth, this release has more in common with Vaughn's post-Tyketto project simply named “Vaughn” as it is just a tad more “relaxed” sounding than Tyketto. The album starts off with lead single “Nothing At All.” This track is one of the better tunes on an album full of strong songs. There is also a video for this song included on the enhanced portion of this disc. Second track “Suddenly” is a Desmond Child co-write and is exactly what you would expect from Child…a mid-paced catchy classic! The track “Stop” is quite possibly the strongest track on the album. It has an absolutely killer chorus and a nice guitar solo. I think this track alone is worth the price of admission! Other highlights are “Blessing in Disguise”, “Is Anybody Watching Me?” and “Always.” The album ends with the haunting “Beautiful Goodbye” and features an impressive vocal performance from Vaughn. As stated before…a real highlight of the AOR genre and it's nice to see a release like this coming out in this day and age.
