This debut disc from US band Feinstein has been out for a while now but seemed to fly under my radar…until now that is--and I'm glad I found it. The mastermind behind Feinstein is David “Rock” Feinstein. Feinstein is no newcomer to the metal scene. He was the guitarist in early 80's cult-metal band The Rods and also happens to be the cousin of the legendary Ronnie James Dio! Since the days of the Rods though not much has been heard from Feinstein but hopefully “Third Wish” won't be the last we hear. It should also be mentioned that “Third Wish” features the vocal talents of John West (Artension & Royal Hunt). The disc starts off w/ the track Regeneration which is firmly placed in the power metal genre. Nice axe work from Feinstein is a highlight. Next up is “Rebelution”, again a great track that any fan of European power metal will eat up. It's after that the album really kicks into high gear. Tracks 3 through 5 could have been lifted from any Black Sabbath album from the Tony Martin or even Glenn Hughes era. Fantastic stuff with no shortage of riffs! Other tracks such as “Masquerade” and “Live To Ride, Ride To Live” get back to the Euro power metal sound while “Far Beyond” and “Poison Ivy” bring back the Sabbath influences. The album is rounded out with a nice instrumental track titled “Inferno”. Some nice organ/guitar interplay is supplied by keyboardist Bob Twining & Feinstein.
