Pyramaze is the newest Danish/American band sweeping the world, fronted by vocalist Lance King (Ex-Balance of Power). Their debut release opens with a melodic guitar strumming slowly with pounding drums. The voice of an echoing demon sounds and bells ringing. Then Bam power comes into play. Rip shredding guitar the voice of the gods has arrived. King sounds like a mixture of Geoff Tate of Queensryche and Helloween’s Michael Kiske, fantastic opening track. Guitar work by Michael Kammeyer is just outstanding. The title track “Melancholy Beast” highlights keyboardist John Weingarten as it seems he is fighting off the band as keyboards bounces back and forth as the guitars fighting back. “The Journey” is the outstanding track on the disc. This song is the whole package. It is truly an amazing song. All members are highlighted as this song could be a classic in the power metal world. “Until Fade Away” is a ballad of epic proportions Lance King just explodes his voice and sooths the mind. “Power of Imagination” another classics tune. As the last track ended, I am just thinking to myself this is a great start for Pyramaze and I hope they are around for years to come and get the support that a band like this truly deserves. This is an amazing debut CD.
