Disguising the sound of hardcore aggressive rock behind space-aged synthesizer is in the membrane of Kink. This band coming out of Italy mixes Linkin Park sounds with high-voltage melodic vocals with added screams and raw crunching guitar. The echo of keyboards is on a wavelength of Joseph Hahn of Linkin Park. Kink is headed for some major concert halls as they get established. Their songs are relentless with hooks and killer lyrics with the flow of pungent vocals by Link. Kink also adds high definition with more aggressive, harsh vocals during “Spray” yet keeping those amazing vocals in the mold of Chester Bennington of LINKIN PARK.
“High And Dry” is a total masterpiece that should put Kink on the fast track. The mixture of musical blend on this CD is unbelievable from techno, new wave, aggressive, to electronic. The songs are balanced with hard-edged guitar by Yu breaking new barriers as he rips on many of the tracks. I can’t say enough about the quality product Kink is releasing and the sounds of some of the bands that you will think about like Spandau Ballet, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach. KINK does a rendition of “Spin Me Around” originally done by DEAD OR ALIVE and does a fine job updating to the modern day. The last track “Once” leaves you wanting more of this excellent debut CD.
