KickStart, a band from Milano, Italy, released their “Fuel” CD back in 2003 and now we have a chance to check it out. The band has a similar vintage rock style heard in Deep Purple and Uriah Heep.
“Don’t Start” has a good jolt of rock that will bring back memories of those days. Track-two “KickStart” has a Black Crowes chord-style sound. “Touch the Sky” starts off sounding like AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” and then makes a turn towards a classic Uriah Heep sound.
This would have been be a great CD many years ago, but even now isn't bad at all. Yet I'm not sure if the public is ready for the retro-sound that this band is playing.
While listening to the track, ”Gotta Get Out”, all I could think of was the “Gong Show” -- with Chuck Barris doing his stop-and-start dance routine.
This is not a bad CD - it's just that you'lll have to get to know or appreciate the music of the past to get into “Fuel.”
