The Jennifer Echo band is a four-member band based in Portland, Oregon. They have released a four song EP titled “Be Dangerous on Guitar.” I guess the title is some kind of goof… but anyway the band’s sound is a typical of the power pop bands of today. If I had to tag it, I would say they were a weak Weezer with a bit of old Hooters mixed in.

The first cut “The Last Disaster” has some nice duel lead vocals surrounded by well-placed harmonies. They have a few catchy riffs but very simplistic. Cut two “There’s A Halo” really doesn’t do anything for me! It is kind of boring. Again, the vocals shine through. This seems to be the bands strongest point! Cut three “The Feeling” is a typical boy/girl problematic theme with no substance or great hooks. At the end of the song, the guitar does show some life.

Fourth cut “Edna Avenue” is another memory lane nightmare. There isn’t really any character to the song or the band. The one thing they do have going for them are their vocals. I would also bet they probably put on a very high-energy show! Longevity... No! Fun to go watch... I’m sure!

Band Lineup:
  • Mike "The Express” Filtz: Lead Guitar
  • Peter Saturday: Bass (Vox)
  • Jim Wadsworth: Drums (Vox)
  • Joel Vega: Rhythm Guitar (Vox)
