RockEyez has been a proud supporter of CRAZY LIXX for many years now and even with the recent departure of Joél Cirera (drums) and Loke Rivano (bass) the band moves forward with their new release “Riot Avenue”. CRAZY LIXX’ record label, Frontiers Records, have really moved into the forefront of this genre and so they offer the best of what it has to offer.

Original founding member Danny Rexon (vocals) is the “king of his castle” and major force in bringing CRAZY LIXX to the masses along with guitarists Andy Dawson and Edd Liam. With the anticipation of their latest release “Riot Avenue” fans worldwide wait patiently to see if the new release will measure up to the past.

If I would have to compare vocalist Danny Rexon to any other singer it would have to be a mix of Paul Stanley (KISS) and Sweden’s Chris Laney. The guy has a strong hold on a wide variety of vocal ranges that others envy. The man can hit the high notes as well as lows and screams that are chilling. The opening track “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” first reminds me musically of THE BABYS “Head First” for some reason but jumps to an arena sounding tune. Andy Dawson and Edd Liam’s guitar work slashes boundaries that many hope to achieve but the main ingredient is the harmonies and background vocals, which CRAZY LIXX has mastered. The title track “Riot Avenue” is a good track to get the full vibe of what CRAZY LIXX is all about, not my overall favorite track but it shows that CRAZY LIXX are a class act.

Does Rexon sound like Paul Stanley on “Fire it Up”? It could be an outtake from the “Animalize” release! “Downtown” is one of the tracks that needs the sound levels raised when you play it!. This track smokes and makes you quiver with delight. “Church Of Rock” brings a bit of a turn with a flare of the vintage TRIXTER sound.

The boys really kick it up on “Riot Avenue” and brings vintage classic 80’s sounds to the modern day and will be a force along with the uprising of other sleaze metal acts like CRASHDIET, newcomers TOXICROSE and PEEPSHOW. Consider CRAZY LIXX one of the leaders! Check out “Heatseeker” as this might be my favorite track and kinda has that classic BULLETBOYS vibe to it.

CRAZY LIXX end the CD with a killer ballad “Only The Dead Know” with some melodic guitar and Danny Rexon showing once again his pipes can do it all.

If you put KISS, SKID ROW and CRASHDIET together you have the next coming called CRAZY LIXX. Great vocals, slicing guitars and killer harmonies… The band has it all.
