Stop laughing, this is no sixteen-year-old kiddy punk rocker anymore from the band Live on Release and no she’s not Bif Naked's toy doll. Britt Black aka Brittin Karroll is all grown up; she was a diamond in the rough but molded herself into a fine gem that is sexy as hell and that’s not all… her new solo CD is here “Blackout”. Raw vocals and hardcore alternative melodies is the backbone of Britt Black; sounding a bit like a higher class Courtney Love. Britt Black will rock you with songs like “Jet Black Heart” , “In Your Face” and “Night Time” but the song that captures my heart is “Stuck Here” which is a slower song the has some nice acoustic work and Britt’s vocals show versatility as she changes octaves. David Dandy’s guitar work is reserved on the CD; you can hear some of his solo demos on his MySpace site http://www.myspace.com/apathyenlightened .
Many songs demand attention like “Speed of Light” that is just one of the videos from the new CD which you can see on the Britt Black official site. Many of the lyrics have good hooks and will easily become crowd favorites like “Girl of Your Dreams” which Black gives her best Joan Jett vocal style on this one. This is one helluva debut and make sure you check Britt Black out on the Warped Tour most likely on the Gritty in Pink Stage. Look for an upcoming interview with live photos from the Warped tour of Britt Black thanks to the help of BODOGMUSIC.
