Badhoven’s new release comes after many years of hard work in the music business. “Believe” should go down as the best Badhoven CD to date. It has tons of AOR melodic tracks mixed with a heavy dose of keyboards by Gerhard Paar. Vocals by KC Greilberger are a blend of Tommy Shaw and Mike Reno with a more classical vibe. The songs flow well throughout the CD but I feel there is a missing element… Excitement. The songs are good but I don’t feel that drive for success.
Badhoven also included a video on the disc of the song “Believe” and as you will see by the video, which is a very good song, the drive and excitement is not there. The musicians are good, the songs are written well but the spark is not there. One song that really sticks out and is exceptional is “Black September Rain”, this song regardless of spark has the marking of a classic tune. The song is slow and melodic and would make a great soundtrack. I like this band but maybe being in this music business for fifteen years and really not making an impact is discouraging. The new disc has some good songs if you’re into slow melodic tunes. Also, one last note KC Greilberger plays some killer riffs on “I’m Your Man”. BADHOVEN at times sounds like a mild version of NIGHT RANGER. I wish these boys well in the future and I hope they get some excitement in the band, if they do this band will be a band to be reckoned with.
