Interview with Peter London
(Bass - Crashdïet)

Interviewed by Brian Rademacher
Date: December 2006

The following interview with Peter London of CRASHDÏET took quiet some time and many questions were hard for him to put into words. Many questions he could not answer because of his tender heart with the passing of Dave Lepard. Even at one point Peter wrote me saying I am not sure I can do this. So the following is the interview that took place.

When you were growing up what music did you listen to?
Bands that really scarred me for life are NIRVANA, GUNS N’ ROSES & ALICE COOPER .

In your eyes what band is the best ALICE COOPER, KISS, or MOTLEY CRUE and why?
ALICE COOPER definitely. I can think of many reasons but what I admire the most about him is that even though he's one of the biggest names in rock he's really down to earth and seems to be a very nice guy, with a great sense of humor. He’s a great guy with many, many great records behind him.

Were you in any bands before CRASHDÏET ?
Yeah! several ones. I was about 15 when I started playing and I've been in bands since then, doin' everything from punk & metal to hard rock & "genital rock".

What was the feeling when you first rehearsed as a group?
Me and Eric looked at each other after playing “Crazy Nites” and were ecstatic. We all knew instantly that this was going to be the next big thing...

Did you all get along in the beginning?
From time to time, yes.

There must have been some other names you were going to name the band, if so what were some of those names?
Dave had already picked CRASHDÏET and we didn't see a reason to change it.

The very first show you played in CRASHDÏET tell us what it was like?
It was a blast!! One of our best shows even to this day. We were young, hungry and very, very excited. Loads of fun and the party after lasted for days...

When the band got signed to Universal Records, what goes through your mind with all the attention, being so young?
Well since I rarely go out, I didn't notice the attention that much, except at our gigs. We've always had a big following but all of a sudden it was enormous. Of course it blew me away!!

What goes threw your mind recording the demos and looking over and not seeing Dave , it must be hard?
Yes it is, I'll never forget him but to be able to keep going I really need to focus on the future, living in the past won't make anybody happy in this case.

If you could say something to Dave right now what you would you say?
We miss ya down here.

Tell us what a day of hanging out with CRASHDÏET would be like?
Probably quite boring at the moment since we are so focused on getting our shit together again.

Has Universal heard any of the new demos and what was there reaction if they did?
Yes they've heard them all and they believe in them as much as we do.

In Martin’s interview with us he said you’re looking for a new singer now. With the demo’s you sent us it seems you really don’t need a new singer. The seven songs sound great and I feel fans will explode hearing how good they are with Martin and yourself taking over lead vocals with that great CRASHDÏET sound. Would CRASHDÏET consider continuing as a three piece? Or maybe adding an additional guitarist?
We'll never be a three-piece band. I prefer having only one guitarist in my band because then I need to work harder to make it sound fat.

Both Martin and I could do the job as the new singer, but why settle with that... We know there is a much better singer hiding somewhere. I like the role I have in this band and wouldn't feel comfortable as a front man anyways.

When you made the commercial for Sony with “Breakin´ the Chainz” did you really drive that big rig over the car?
Sure.

Tell us a little about the upcoming DVD that will be available soon? How long is it, is there backstage footage and what the cost will be and where can fans get it?
You'll get one complete show + one hour of bonus footage from various occasions. We'll be selling the DVD ourselves from our website and at our gigs. The price is not set yet but it will be cheaper than what DVD's normally costs in the stores today.

I noticed Martin and Eric both have MySpace sites. Do you also have a MySpace site?
No. Internet-communities are not my thing at all.

What is a typical day for Peter London now? Do you work or do you still live the rocker’s life?
CRASHDÏET is a 24/7 job but right now it doesn't pay the bills so I'm spending about 6 days each month working at a regular temporary shitty job.

How often do you get together with Martin and Eric each week?
Almost every day.

What is the last CD you listened to?
BETTY BLOWTORCH “Last Call” , Even better than “Are You Man Enough?” god damnit!

After the DVD is released what will the next project be for yourself?
Touring, releasing albums, recording albums, writing songs, who knows? :)

In a month, it will be the one-year passing of our shining star Dave Lepard . Can you share with us a special moment that will be in your memory for life and does CRASHDÏET have any plans on doing something special on that date?
I'll probably spend that day together with Dave's family & our closest friends.

Peter it has been a great pleasure talking with you and Rockeyez.com supports CRASHDÏET in all future projects. Would you like to say anything to your fans in ending?
Thank you for hanging around - it means a lot to us. See ya soon. // LONDON
