I’ve been reading some of the racist comments on different boards and without even listening to the CD or giving the band a chance, THE VEER UNION is already getting a bad rap. It’s the narrow mindedness of brainless idiots like those who really make my fucking skin crawl. Regardless of skin color, a vocalist like Crispin gives hope to all colors and creeds… not to mention he totally kicks ass!

The new CD by THE VEER UNION entitled “Against The Grain” will turn heads not only for the musicianship and great songwriting but can be seen as an inspiration to many young kids going into music that thought to themselves “I can’t do it”… well, you can! And THE VEER UNION is a perfect example.

The hardcore pummeling opening track “Seasons” holds up to anything that’s out there now… that’s why the WWE uses it! Volatile guitar work combined with a front man that can bring the goods. Yeah, Crispin shows a lot of emotion and you can’t deny his “cream of the crop” vocals.

I love the energy of “Youth Of Yesterday.” It’s driving yet has it’s melodic moments which really turn it up a notch. The chorus’ rule and TVU is a class act. HINDER, SEETHER and others like them made the big time… now it’s time for change and THE VEER UNION will hold the torch.

Just listen to “Over Me”…and listen hard! With the changing vocals and the background vocals adding depth, man this is it! Get use to these boys because they will be around for some time. Are you going to deny bands like legendary KINGS X vocalist (Doug Pinnick), PLASMATICS (Jean Beauvoir), KILLSWITCH ENGAGE’s (Howard Jones), Jimi Hendrix and others? I think not! I know this friggin’ review wasn’t suppose to be about color but those message boards piss me off!

Good music is good music and THE VEER UNION has a gem on their hands with “Against The Grain.” With its sentimental overtones, “I’m Sorry” shows a softer side to TVU with some great tapping guitar work and the vocal range of Crispin… amazing! This is a HIT!

Another great track is “Final Moment” which could be a hit maker on any release out there… just a killer track! Even with the little hints of AC/DC influenced guitar riffs at the ending of the song. Song after song, “Against The Grain” reaches new heights in this fantastic debut by THE VEER UNION. A must have CD for your collection!
