The Roxydolls from Japan are at it again with their third release “Sex Sex Sex”. Glam, heavy metal, hard rock - call them what you want - they rock. “Angelina” has the feel of the New York Dolls Japanese style.  The Roxydolls mix up great background vocals with sounds from “back in the day” when Sylvain Sylvain and David Johansen took the stage.

The girls must swarm around when these guys play. They’ve got style, image and attitude - plus they can play. Even the guitar work by Ruby oozes of the basic early guitar riffs of the fun time in rock and roll. Check out “Beauty Star” as it has some cool lyrics and a short guitar breakout by Ruby thatbring back those early rock and roll memories.

The highlight track is “Pleasure.” The song starts off slow and Chelsea’s vocals take over as he makes you focus on the song with its highs, lows and breaks in the song. The band really makes this song feel live with the feedback from the amps and raw energy.

I think the only thing that hurts their advancement is that they do not sing the full song in English. I like these guys not only for their music, I like them for the fun they are putting back in an era of music that has been missing for a long time.
