Like pounding a drum through the heart the velocity of this high potency precision group of musicians, RIDE THE SKY, the new power metal supergroup, has hit the sphere of greatness. I mean look at this line-up what can you really say except a history-making debut.

“New Protection” takes the metal to another level; Bjorn Jansson vocals ooze magnetism and the keyboards by Kaspar Dahlqvist hooking up with Benny Jansson on guitar makes a solid nucleus. The song writing is excellent as the songs flow from track to track. I can

’t think of a power metal band that can also entertain the sounds of Eighties metal sound, molding it with today’s power metal masters. Check out the track “A Smile from Heaven’s Eye” you will see exactly what I mean. The guitar work on “Silent War” is way above the norm and the elevation hitting key notes will bring definitely success.

“The Prince of Darkness” gets a little heavier into progressive metal, which I can take a bit of, but it’s not over the edge on progression. This CD definitely has hints of the first OUTWORLD CD. “Far Beyond the Stars” is one of the tracks that shine, it’s a little fast-paced but with the keyboards keeping pace with the vocals it gives it a true balance that smoothes over the sound.

I can’t get over how good this CD is. It’s like a time warp that takes you to a seemingly distance time bringing past memories into today’s age. Even “A Crack in the Wall” which is a brilliant array of sentimental keyboards and guitar riffs reminds you of many Eighties metallers with an edgy progressive style. You should definitely pick up this CD RIDE THE SKY “New Protection” on Nuclear Blast Records.
