Rhapsody is back with their first ever live CD; recorded in Canada in 2005. As the opening notes sound and narration, I wonder how much of the opening moments are taken from the late eighties band Angel. Angel had a very similar opening to their live show where an angel’s head talks to the audience in the same manner, as the opening of Rhapsody live set. Nevertheless, Rhapsody’s music will stand for itself as high-powered magical sounds.

We’re talking about musicians. that are above the normal level of excellence. The music is fast paced, almost making a new genre in symphonic speed metal. Fabio has an operatic style voice that jumps from octave to octave and is clearly the centerpiece of the band. But it doesn’t stop there! Alex Staropoli is a genius on the keys, and even with the fast-paced music, he stands out above other musicians.

“The Village Of Dwarves” is an excellence tune that has the ole time ancient feel of Celtic songs. I love how Fabio emphasizes the breaks in the chorus that brings attention and highlights the song. One of the true gems that’s underrated is Luca Turilli. Turilli is a phenomenal guitarist but gets lost in the shuffle with the mixture of sounds. You really have to listen to hear how great Turilli is. Listening to this CD makes you want to see their live show and capture the essence of the real masters, named Rhapsody.

Turilli is finally let loose on “Erian`s Mystical Rhymes” and will show the world that Rhapsody is to be taken seriously as a entity and will rise to the top. As I listen to “Live in Canada”, I feel like I’m at a classical Broadway play or symphony that rocks, and rolls. The Live CD also comes with a featured DVD that gives a glimpse of the inner works of Rhapsody and some brief interviews. A full-length DVD is forthcoming.
