The pop culture of sleaze is making a comeback with bands such as Babylon Bombs, Backyard Babies and now RadioVipers. The Vipers have the traditional pop sleaze metal sound with simple lyrics and catchy music but not over the edge. Some people might be a little skeptical with Mez Ryan’s accent that is noticeable as he belts out the tunes. The band comes from the same mold as Black Hill from Italy. Radio Vipers at times have a similar vibe as Aerosmith minus the vocals.
Even though the band is good and I am sure will be a good live act, I feel there is nothing on “The Morning Sunburst” that excited me in comparison to Black Hill who has a vibrant sound. As I listened to all ten tracks, I realized there is not one song that drew me to the band. It is not a bad CD; it is just there is no stand out track. The musicianship is average and nothing special.
Sad to say I was hoping for a better release from Radio Vipers instead of an average CD. The last tune “Untitled” is totally pitiful as the band sings out of tune and is horrible.
