John 5 is a guitarist who has played with the likes of MARILYN MANSON, ROB HALFORD (TWO project), KD LANG, DAVID LEE ROTH and many others. After a one solo albums JOHN 5 has now released and all instrumental hard hitter titled, “Songs For Sanity” which features guest guitar solos from legendary guitarists Steve Vai and Albert Lee. This collection showcases JOHN 5’s wide variety of skill. Once you pick up this album, you will get everything from straightforward heavy metal, blues-rock, and even thumb-picking country music. But with every song JOHN 5 seems to add his amazing ability to play extremely fast and extremely melodic.

The first track, “Death Valley,” is an amazing shredder, which introduces the listener to John 5’s amazing ability. The second track, “Blues Balls” is nothing short of amazing. Another shredder showing John 5’s amazing power on the guitar. The album really changes pace with its third track, “Gods and Monsters,” which is a country jam, thumb-picking ditty, y’all. Next from the album comes across the atmospheric “Die.” This song sounds like a true opener to any concert beginning with a slow intro and erupting into heavy goodness. The next few tracks are geared more towards the country influence with some more thumb-picking playing and also a Deep Purple style blues track. “Behind the Nut Love” seems to be the more industrial sounding song with more keyboard effects and with an awesome riff featuring a crowd effect that makes you feel as if you’re in an arena listening to the song. The only ballad, if you can call it that is the all-acoustic “Soul of a Robot” and it is a beautiful song. Again this track features some industrial sounds and odd light breathing, really makes you feel that you’re in the robot! The last diddler is “Sin,” a total country song that gives me the image of a trucker on an open road. The last two tracks “Damaged” and “Dénouement” are more progressive sounding, which add a good flavor to the album.

If your looking for an album with great diversity than pick up John 5’s “Songs For Sanity. You will not be disappointed, trust me.
