I have to laugh. I received the latest CD by Ironsword with no information, no website, just a disc with a xeroxed cover. Ironsword plays heavy metal in the vein of Motorhead with vocals similar to Lemmy.

This Portuguese band formed back in 1995 and has had some band changes. Now they have released their latest disc “Return of the Warrior.” Ironsword’s music is hard-hitting and gives you 100% -- like bands such as Manowar and UDO.

“First Masters” is a good song with combined vocals from other band members. Guitar work by Tann is average -- not very exciting.

The full CD has a heavy sound similar to Motorhead but it has no highs or lows. I am not saying it is a bad CD, but I am also not telling you it’s a good one either. It is basic and generic. It lacks originality.

“Brothers of the Blade” is not a bad tune and has much better guitar playing than the other songs on the disc. Tann tries to open up the guitar playing and succeeds to a point but falls short of spectacular or something to remember.

All in all “Return of the Warrior” is generic.
