The hard rock boys are here. Sweden’s The Grand Trick plays a different style of music that we have not been getting here at Rock Eyez. They are a band that has the sound of a heavier Blood, Sweat, and Tears with vocals in the mold of David Clayton-Thomas. You can hear vintage bands like Chicago, B,S & T and traditional late seventies music with the tracks on “The Decadent Session”. The guitar work is bluesy and at times reminds me of JETHRO TULL sans flute.

It’s not bad at all but I don’t see this type of music coming back to the heights of yesteryear. “Late Morning Daze” is a good tune more into a fusion type song with a feel of YES.The Grand Trick” is a long drawn out song that gets boring going off the board like a never ending Johnny Winter tune. There was really nothing exciting to hear on “The Decadent Session” unless you’re stuck in a time warp. I started to get flashbacks of Woodstock and the flower power days -- long hair, headbands and a lot of herbs. If this was recorded back in the seventies it might have made an impact - but these days, it doesn’t have a chance.
