“Unsaved” is the second uprising from Deadstar Assembly. Soon to assault both day walkers and night vultures, the spectacle known as DSA to its fans is sure to continue its assault. Florida-based DSA was formed in 2001 by singer Dearborn, and has gained popularity throughout the world-and I see no stopping. The endorsements are rolling in, and bloodsucking leeches are coming from everywhere to get merchandise deals. Once “Unsaved” hits stores you will see a major change from underground to Universal. The disc starts off with full-throttle massive destruction.
“Unsaved pt 1” and “pt 2” will blow your mind, with bellowing vibes akin to those of Marilyn Manson and NIN. DSA are molten with mixtures of thrash, death, industrial and heavy metal. Don’t think for one minute these guys are some joke: they have some amazing lyrics, and an aura of melodic vocals hidden in the undercoating. “Killing Myself Again” has that perfect blend of all attentive elements that will bring the fans to a frenzy.
“And Ashes Will Fall” could be the breakout song that makes DSA the crowning kings, with an industrial ballad that is so good it could reach the top ten on many charts. “Darker Now” is my particular pick to win over new bloodsuckers, with its riveting, crunching guitar and BIG arena sound.
The drumming by Cygnus has a huge impact on the sound of “Unsaved,” much like the sound that came from the early recordings of Alex Van Halen. Dearborn has the ability to change up his vocals, which really gives DSA that unique star quality. When DreGGs’ guitar and The Dro’s bass come into play, you have arena rock. Break down the walls and get this CD, and let the blood flow.
