I wasn’t even looking when I popped in a CD from my bag. It was time to see what’s out there with the new pile of CD’s I received for review. When the music started, the first thing that I here is an American Indian chant! Ah, interesting! I’ll give it a go.

The music starts with a grunge type guitar, banging out chords. The first song “Find A Way” remains fairly simple through out until the middle of the song where the Indian chant comes back, pretty cool. Ok this can get interesting, let’s proceed. The next tune has that semi grunge sound again, but with a bit more bite. My interest peaked; I move on to cut 3 “Broken Again” WOW! You want to hear a little ALICE IN CHAINS with a twist! The vocals have that eerie sound of Layne Staley but quite a bit stronger with very interesting backing vocals underneath, this song is killer!

The next tune “Before the Fall” has some sweet guitar grooves, Yes grooves. I love the rhythm section, tight and very punctual. It’s getting heavy. The vocals are excellent, his phrasing with the words are unique!

The music so far is fresh! The guys have something good here. I can hear many influences throughout the CD and that’s a good thing! The next cut will get your blood flowing and fist in the air,”Amends “is a very hard guitar riff oriented song. The album so far has some nice turns to it. I am digging it. Speaking of twists, there is a short acoustic instrumental, which breaks up the CD nicely! These are seasoned musicians for sure! My curiosity is getting the best of me to see who composed this CD, but I move on through the CD.

“Left Behind” has the big chorus with again heavy guitar rhythms. The guitars are giving me this feeling of VELVET REVOLVER meets grunge yet heavy like old SABBATH, Great vocal arrangements, supported by a solid bottom end will make this one a hit! Yea there is a hit on this one, mark my words!

The CD is getting better as I listen. It should also peak your curiosity to listen to it again, because there is a quality about it that is hard to put a finger on. One thing I did noticed, there are really no dominate guitar solos. Okay, that’s not for all but I would like to hear someone tear it up a little. The next cut “Blind” is a little repetitious for me but again the vocals; lead and backing are fantastic throughout the CD. You have to check out “Black Coffee Blues” This song kicks! There is a lot going on here! Heavy guitar! Here is where you’ll see old school SABBATH infused!

The closing song “Fade Away” is a very laid back tune with a good vibe and is a very nice way to close out an album!

I totally enjoyed this CD! Now let me see who this is!

Oh shit! I called it, seasoned vets! ANOTHER ANIMAL is loaded up with talent! AA features three members of GODSMACK: Tony Rombola on guitar, bassist Robbie Merrilland skin smacker Shannon Larkin. It seems that the boys had some free time on their hands and made the best of it. They also brought in is ex-DROPBOX guitarist Lee Richards ( by the way what happened to DROPBOX, I’ll have to find out) and a big surprise on vocals Whitfield Crane from UGLY KID JOE, That’s a nice pick up! Whit has some serious pipes that I always enjoyed!

The band sounds great, the music is fresh, and the album will rock your ass off! If you are looking for GODSMACK here, you won’t find it. These guys have managed to write new ideas and come up with a great sound with an excellent choice for vocals!

Rock on!
