To compare A Lower Deep to a band like Nevermore is not a strong point in the Alabama bands repertoire. They have a slight sound of Nevermore. A Lower Deep has a style of their own mending the progressive sounds with hardcore raw vocals of Billy Mullican. The pounding of the bass drum ripples through many of the songs that gives the band a new entity of classic.
“A Grief Observed” is a strange song and Troy Reid breaks loose making it a moment to be heard with the ringing sound of the drums. Many of the songs are dark and give the feel of slitting my wrist and watching the blood spill from my veins. A Lower Deep could actually fit in the mold of the gothic genre.
“Gods And Monsters” show signs of just how good they can be, adding a vibe of the grim reaper coming alive. “Gods And Monsters” will amaze you in the diversity that is shown on “Trinity”. Listening to this track Troy Reid could make a name for himself. It seems on “Trinity” the next track is even better and better. A Lower Deep is making a step in the right direction and we will see what the future holds.
