Always a priority here at RockEyez is to search out that undiscovered band that will excite our staff and readers and even though WAYLAND has members that have been together for ten years they only released their first full-length CD back in 2010. Now they are set to make waves again with their new EP “Welcome To My Head”. The good people over at SKH Music shipped the disc to us unknowingly and once I heard the first track “Nobody’s Perfect” I felt explosions going off in me. The band hails from Michigan and as they climb the ladder of success RockEyez wants to bring them some notoriety. Vocalist Mitch Arnold has icon written all over his golden voice. He has such a mixture of a classic Bon-era AC/DC vibe to Chris Robinson of THE BLACK CROWS. “Nobody’s Perfect” has those elements that AC/DC posses and musically these four lads are pure power-driven rock; also check the tasty guitar work by Phillip Vilenski.
Next up the title track “Welcome To My Head” is classic rock with flying guitar licks that brings chills to your spine. Surely a top-rotation track as they mix an alternative sound to create jaw-dropping ecstasy rock. This one should put WAYLAND on the map. “On My Knees” sways to the melodic side of music and still has an appetizing taste of classic rock.
Drummer Tyler Coburn and bassist Dean Pizzazz are possessed on “Fire Down Below” bashing the drums and thumping the bass respectively and the screaming guitars by Phillip Vilenski are all mixed with an arena sound plus the huge pipes of frontman Mitch Arnold makes them an entity.
These boys they will be noticed, mark my words!
