RockEyez was one of the first sites that hooked up with PALISADES before their signing to Rise Records (at the time they were known as MARILYN IS DEAD and we reviewed them back in 2008).

I’m not going to shit you about these guys and I don’t give two fucks what anyone thinks. RockEyez has always been a site that is trusted and we review CD’s honestly. Before I go any further with this review I’m going to tell you that guitarist Matt Marshall resides right across the street from me.

Good or bad, you will hear the truth about this CD. In fact I did not even get the CD from Matt, who I give credit because as I asked him for an advance of the CD his answer to me was “I can’t give it to you yet because our manager doesn’t want it out”. So I got a copy from Mike Cubillos at Earshot Media.

Anyway enough of my bullshit, let’s get to the CD review.

“Disclosure” opens the disc with an echoing heavy vibe of alternative power. First thing that flashes brilliance is the programming by Earl Halasan, I love that full sound that is brought forth by Halasan, which gives the track an arena rock feel. Vocally, Louis Miceli can hold his head high and compete with the best of them. Listening to Miceli I hear star quality and the surrounding cast, for a young band is truly professional.

On the second track, “Bury it”, Miceli is on fire vocally. Once the opening chord rang out I was saying to myself is this a friggin’ dance tune with the programming but PALISADES turn direct and slash boundaries from simplistic to powerful energy.

I’m not one for growling vocals but PALISADES use the growling sparingly and I enjoyed the mix on “I'm Not Dying Today”. Track three “Immortal” is another tune where you get a full load of drummer Aaron Rosa and the thunder of bassist Brandon Reese.

“Seamless Ending” could be the track that reaches the masses. If looking for perfection this is the one. This is a song that is a true collaboration, with all members sharing highlights. It has that soft side with Miceli caressing the vocals and at precise segments wreaking havoc on your senses.

Ending the disc is “Wolves”, which starts off mellow and then gets pummeling at times. It’s funny throughout the review I didn’t mention all three guitarists Matt Marshall, Xavier Adames, and Earl Halasan. It’s that all three go off on each song but the mix on the disc is done so well they contribute as a singular unit.

These guys really impressed me and the production is amazing. Rise Records have a winner here so add this one to your collection pronto.
