Taking on a recording project all alone is not an easy task. Brent Enman, the one-man band, is highly talented and recently released his new disc called "Wildman". I don't know if you want to call it self-indulgent, praise for yourself or hard work but Enman does the job. Ten tracks of pure classic rock with Enman doing all the musical instruments and vocals. So good or bad there is only one person to blame Mr. Enman.
The disc starts off with "All For The Show" that really sparks a light with some great production. Enman thrives with a powerful opener pulling out all the stops with killer vocals great guitar licks and amazing structure on this opener. Enman kinda reminds me of the early days of TRIUMPH on this track, which should bring him some attention. Track two "I Lost My American Dream" switches gears bringing the classic sound of Steve Miller Band with a subtle nod.
Listening to the next couple tracks I feel like I'm in a time warp with bands like FLETWOOD MAC, THE WHO and others of that late 70's period. The tracks are good but it feels to me I'm on the corner bar hanging out with some dude playing his heart out because he loves to play music and that's not a bad thing. On "Hear What I'm Saying" first couple chords I feel the GEORGIA SATELLITES come back from the dead with that southern sound but to tell you the truth it's kinda cool. My foot was tapping!
"Shadow On My Heart" is an outstanding track and loved listening to this powerful melodic rocker. As I listen to the "Wildman" tracks I hear a lot of diversity in Enman's music some I liked a lot some were simply passable for my tatstes.
One thing I can say is the songs are well-written and the production is amazing and there are some heavy-hitters on the disc with my standouts being "All For The Show" and "Shadow On My Heart".
